Gruntpig
Wildlife
The Gruntpig is a pig-like creature found wandering the gentler regions of Everwind, rooting through soil and foraging contentedly. Rotund and low to the ground, Gruntpigs emit the snuffling, grunting sounds that give them their name, and their curled tails wag as they move from patch to patch. They are completely passive and will not retaliate against players.
As a passive animal, the Gruntpig offers no combat challenge whatsoever. It can be killed by players who want its drops, but it will not fight back under any circumstances. Its stats are negligible from a combat standpoint, and it represents one of the most benign creature types in the game.
Gruntpigs serve an important ecological role in Everwind's world-building, populating farms, meadows, and the fringes of civilization with recognizable animal life. As a pig analog, they may drop meat and animal byproducts useful in basic cooking or crafting recipes. Their passive nature makes them easy targets for players who need animal materials without the risk of combat, which is especially valuable early in the game before heading into more dangerous biomes.
