Starting Meadows
Low
The Starting Meadows is the introductory biome of Everwind, a collection of gently sloping floating islands blanketed in green grass, shallow ponds, and scattered woodland that stretches across the lowest altitude band of Zone 1. It is the first environment players encounter after character creation and serves as both tutorial space and early-game resource hub. Human settlements dot these islands, hosting Settlers, Merchants, and Guards who provide trade opportunities, introductory quest givers, and a sense of civilization before players venture into more dangerous territory.
The four tutorial quests, covering the fundamentals of flying a ship, smelting ore, repairing equipment, and cooking food, all take place within or adjacent to the Starting Meadows. Completing these quests equips players with the foundational skills needed to survive in higher zones, and the Merchants found in settlements here stock basic tools, seed supplies, and early crafting components. Guards stationed around settlements are high-HP NPCs who award experience when sparred with peacefully, but they turn hostile if players draw weapons, steal, or commit violence in their presence.
Despite its tranquil appearance, the Starting Meadows lays the groundwork for every system in Everwind, from airship construction to the material progression chain that begins with wood and stone before climbing to copper, bronze, and iron. New players should spend time fully completing all four tutorial quests here before departing, as the knowledge gained directly translates into survival skills needed in the Jungle and Russet Forest. The Meadows also remains a useful resupply and trading hub throughout the mid-game, since Merchants here refresh their stock periodically and provide fair prices on basic consumables.
