Fern
Herb
Fern is a non-flowering vascular plant with arching fronds divided into many small, paired leaflets that unfurl from tightly coiled fiddleheads as they emerge. In Everwind, Fern carpets the shaded forest floor beneath the canopy, forming lush green understory mats that signal moisture-rich, sheltered terrain. The plant's universal presence across Forest biomes makes it one of the most commonly encountered herbs in the game.
Fern's alchemy effect tags may relate to growth, regeneration, or natural resilience, consistent with its reputation as one of Earth's oldest surviving plant lineages. At the Alchemy Station, Fern can be combined with two herbs or mushrooms sharing its effect profile alongside Magic Liquid to brew a potion. Fern's wide availability ensures players can maintain a steady alchemy ingredient supply without relying on rare or biome-specific herbs.
Fern is harvested from the forest floor throughout the Forest biome and Starting Meadows, and its abundance means players rarely need to make dedicated Fern-gathering runs since incidental collection during normal exploration typically accumulates a usable stock. Gathering Fern alongside Bell Flower, Lavender, and Jasmine during Forest herb runs is an easy way to diversify the alchemy inventory. The plant regrows relatively quickly after harvest, supporting repeated collection from the same forest areas.
