Spell Book
Spellbook of Madness
Causes enemies to frenzy and attack their allies
The Spellbook of Madness is a chaos-oriented crowd control weapon that causes affected enemies to go berserk and attack each other rather than the player. The effect converts hostile threats into temporary allies that deal damage to the opposing faction, reducing incoming pressure while simultaneously dealing enemy-on-enemy damage that the player does not need to generate directly. It is among the most creatively powerful spellbooks for turning enemy density from a liability into an asset.
The Spellbook of Madness requires the Advanced Books skill to wield and shares the universal spellbook property of permanent durability, never degrading through use. Master Books skill advancement may increase the duration of the madness effect, widen its AoE, or allow more enemies to be simultaneously affected. Strategic timing and positioning determine the effectiveness of any single cast, making this book more skill-expressive than pure damage options.
The Spellbook of Madness is most effective in large rooms with diverse enemy groups, where triggering infighting between different enemy types produces chaotic but highly beneficial outcomes. Combine it with the Perception potion to scout enemy clustering before committing the cast, ensuring the madness effect covers the maximum number of targets. For players who also use the Spellbook of Freeze, Madness and Freeze together cover both the chaos control and the hard immobilization angles: use Madness first on the larger group, then Freeze on any stragglers that resist or exit the madness range.
