Mortivar Commander
Mortivar
The Mortivar Commander is an officer-class enemy within the Mortivar civilization's military hierarchy, coordinating the undead-humanoid forces that hold the floating islands. Distinguished by their more elaborate bone armor and commanding presence, Commanders are found in fortified positions throughout Mortivar-controlled forest areas and dungeon approaches, often surrounded by lower-ranked units such as the Mortivar Warrior and Mortivar Vanguard. Their role is as much organizational as it is combat-focused, making them priority targets when clearing large enemy groups.
Despite their leadership role, Mortivar Commanders deal a modest 4 damage per hit at a flat rate, though their 110 HP pool and defense values of 0 to 15 make them far more survivable than frontline soldiers. Defeating a Commander yields 70 EXP, reflecting their tactical value rather than raw combat power. Because their damage output is low compared to their health, Commanders are best handled with sustained fire-element attacks to leverage the Mortivar's -10% Fire weakness, eliminating them before their support presence can bolster surrounding units.
The Mortivar Commander's leadership function means that engagements featuring a Commander alongside standard units can be significantly more dangerous than the Commander's own stats suggest. Players are advised to target Commanders first in mixed encounters to disrupt any buffing or coordination behavior. As a Mortivar unit, the Commander shares the faction's elemental profile: -10% Fire, -5% Electric, +5% Ice, +5% Poison. Skull trophy drops from Commanders are collectible items, and clearing Commander-led patrols is an effective strategy for accumulating EXP while progressing toward the Forest Dungeon's deeper chambers.
