Russet Forest

Medium

The Russet Forest is a Zone 2 biome covering elevations from 400 to 900 meters, named for its dense canopy of amber and rust-colored foliage that blankets a network of interconnected floating islands. It serves as the primary gateway into the mid-game, offering copper veins, Mortivar dungeon entrances, and substantially tougher enemies than anything found in the Starting Meadows or Jungle below. Players typically arrive here after building a functional airship with at least a first-tier Airship Core upgrade.

The Forest Dungeon is the biome's marquee challenge, a sprawling Mortivar stronghold that culminates in a battle against the Mortivar Lord boss. Surviving long enough to reach the Mortivar Lord requires navigating ambushes from Mortivar Archers, Assassins, and Guardians stationed throughout the dungeon's corridors. Victory rewards players with ancient gear that represents a meaningful upgrade over anything craftable from wood, stone, or early copper, making the Forest Dungeon a high-priority target for players climbing the material progression ladder.

The Mortivar civilization originated in the Russet Forest, and their bone-and-skull aesthetic is woven into every corner of the biome's dungeon architecture. Players should invest in the Warrior skill tree's defense tiers before tackling this zone, as Mortivar Assassins in particular deal rapid burst damage that can overwhelm light-armor builds. Copper ore found throughout the forest is also vital for crafting Pyrite and Bronze-tier equipment, so spending time mining before dungeon runs will pay dividends across the entire mid-game progression arc.
