Darkshroom

Darkshroom is a deep, velvety-dark mushroom with an almost black cap that absorbs ambient light rather than reflecting it, giving the fungus an uncanny, shadow-like presence in the underground zones and deep cave systems where it grows. Its near-invisible profile in low-light environments means players must rely on familiarity with its preferred habitats rather than visual contrast to locate it reliably. The stipe is similarly dark and relatively short, keeping the entire fruiting body low to the stone floor.

Darkshroom's shadow-affinity effect tags make it a powerful alchemy ingredient for dark, stealth, or debuff-oriented potion recipes at the Alchemy Station. Pairing Darkshroom with Fly Agaric and Toxic Mushroom alongside Magic Liquid creates a potent trio for offensive or utility potions with shadow-based properties. Unlike culinary mushrooms, Darkshroom has no cooking applications and should be reserved exclusively for alchemy use.

Darkshroom is found primarily in deep underground cave systems and the lower levels of subterranean dungeons, where it grows on damp stone and decaying organic matter far from the surface. Players equipped with a light source, or who carry a Glowing Mushroom for ambient illumination, will have a significant advantage when searching for Darkshroom in pitch-dark passages. Moonshroom and Glowing Mushroom often occupy the same underground habitats, making deep cave runs productive for multiple rare mushroom types simultaneously.
