Rotwood Log
WoodLog
Rotwood Log is a decayed and unusual wood harvested from the trees of Rotten Island, a hazardous Zone 2 biome found between 400 and 900 meters altitude. The wood has a deteriorated, spongey appearance with dark mottled coloration that reflects the corrupted environment it grows in. Harvesting Rotwood requires venturing into Rotten Island, which is dangerous and filled with environmental hazards.
Rotwood Log is processed into Rotwood Planks at the Carpenter Station or Processing Station. The unique properties of this decayed wood make Rotwood Planks suited for specific crafting recipes and structural applications that call for its distinct characteristics. While it may not be as universally applicable as Forestwood Planks, Rotwood Planks serve an important role in certain mid-game crafting paths that cannot be satisfied by other wood types.
Farming Rotwood Log is inherently tied to Rotten Island exploration, which means players should prepare thoroughly before harvesting runs. Bring strong weapons, good armor, and ample food to survive the island's hazards while also gathering wood. Rotwood trees tend to cluster in the decayed forested areas of the island, so following the treelines rather than open ruins will yield the best results. Batch your log harvesting with other Rotten Island objectives like gathering Coal and Steamer Metal Scrap to make each visit as productive as possible.
