Enemy
Hexrat
Mortivar
The Hexrat is a uniquely hostile rat-type creature found exclusively within the structures of the Mortivar dungeon complex in Zone 2. Unlike the mundane rodents that might populate lesser locations, the Hexrat has been transformed or empowered by the Mortivar's dark rituals, giving it a sinister quality that sets it apart from wildlife rodents like the Filth Rat found elsewhere. Its fur is matted with arcane residue, and its eyes glow with a faint, unnatural light.
As an aggressive creature found deep within Mortivar territory, the Hexrat attacks on sight and is designed as a dungeon-specific nuisance enemy that can chip down player resources during extended dungeon runs. While not the most powerful individual combatant, it occupies the same spaces as dangerous Mortivar soldiers and commanders, meaning Hexrats often appear as an additional layer of pressure on top of the dungeon's main enemy encounters. Its unpredictable scurrying movement and small hitbox make it slightly annoying to dispatch cleanly.
The Hexrat is categorized as a boss-tier creature within its faction data, suggesting it may have an elevated role in certain encounter configurations within the Mortivar dungeon beyond being a simple floor enemy. As a creature unique to this dungeon type, it contributes to the Mortivar's flavor as a faction that corrupts and repurposes natural creatures for its own ends. Players pushing deep into the Mortivar dungeon alongside encounters with the Mortivar General should not underestimate Hexrats as mere filler enemies.
