Rune of Swiftness

The Rune of Swiftness grants a 15% attack speed increase, one of the most impactful offensive modifiers available through the rune system. Faster attack speed means more hits per second, which translates directly into higher damage output, more Life Steal healing, more Battle Feast stamina generation, and more Acceleration rune procs. At 15%, the speed difference is noticeable in combat pacing and dramatically affects the feel of weapon handling.

The Rune of Swiftness is a guaranteed drop from the Skeleton King boss, making targeted boss farming the primary acquisition method. This guaranteed drop status means the rune does not require the standard crafting chain to obtain, but upgrading it to higher sizes still requires the Rune Crafting Station along with five runes of the current size and five Runalit crystals. Bring Loot Luck and Loot Luck-enhancing accessories like the Fringed Pendant Necklace to the fight for better overall loot, even though the Rune of Swiftness drop itself is certain.

The Rune of Swiftness pairs excellently with the Acceleration rune since Swiftness provides a permanent baseline speed increase while Acceleration adds a stacking tempo burst during combat. For physical Warrior builds, combining Rune of Swiftness with Rune of Strength covers both speed and damage in a two-rune weapon setup. Arcanist builds that use rapid-fire staves also benefit substantially from the attack speed bonus, making this rune one of the few weapon runes that serves both playstyle archetypes.
