Shabby Rags

Shabby Rags are a Cloth-tier chest armor piece with 3 DEF and 55 Endurance, sitting fractionally above Brown Tattered Rags in staying power. The slightly higher Endurance means the item will survive a few more hits before needing attention, though the practical difference in early play is minimal. They occupy the chest slot and provide no skill requirement to equip.

Like all starting rag variants, Shabby Rags are found as starting loot or scavenged from the earliest zone containers. No crafting recipe exists for them, and the Smithing Station plays no role in their acquisition. Comparing them to the full trio of starting rags (Brown Tattered Rags and Torn Rags), Shabby Rags sit in the middle of the durability range at 55 END.

Shabby Rags work as a temporary placeholder for any build while the player farms their first meaningful chest upgrade. They pair well with any early shield simply because blocking offsets the negligible DEF value. Once a Modest Outfit or Practical Outfit is found, these rags should be discarded or stored as a reminder of your origins.
