Mortivar Guardian

Mortivar

The Mortivar Guardian is a heavily dedicated defensive combatant within the Mortivar civilization, posted at key strategic points to prevent player advancement through forest dungeons and fortified encampments. Built for endurance rather than speed, these undead-humanoid soldiers stand as immovable sentinels at thresholds and chokepoints, presenting a sustained challenge to any player attempting to push deeper into Mortivar-held territory. Their sheer durability marks them as among the toughest standard enemies in the faction.

Mortivar Guardians deal 7 to 8 damage per strike, a moderate but consistent output supported by an imposing 135 HP pool, the highest of any non-boss non-squire Mortivar enemy, and a defense range of 0 to 20. Defeating a Guardian rewards 97 EXP, making them among the most lucrative standard encounters in the faction. Players should approach Guardians with sustained fire-element damage to exploit the -10% Fire vulnerability, and the Warrior tree's Parry Master skill is particularly effective for interrupting the Guardian's methodical attack cadence and creating openings for counterstrikes.

The Mortivar Guardian's role as a dungeon gatekeeper means players will frequently encounter them protecting the approaches to the Mortivar Lord's chambers deep in the Forest Dungeon. Clearing Guardians efficiently is essential for boss run preparation, and their high EXP yield makes them worthwhile targets even outside of dungeon progression. Like all Mortivar, Guardians share the faction's elemental resistances: -10% Fire, -5% Electric, +5% Ice, +5% Poison. Skull trophies from Guardians are desirable drops given the enemy's prestige within the Mortivar military structure.
