Quest
Learn Basics - Cooking
Tutorial
Learn Basics - Cooking is the fourth and final tutorial quest in Everwind's introductory sequence, taking place in the Starting Meadows and teaching players how to prepare food to sustain themselves during exploration. The quest guides new players through gathering raw ingredients available on the meadow islands, setting up a cooking station, and producing the first cooked meals that restore hunger and health more efficiently than raw consumables. Completing this quest is a prerequisite for understanding the food system that becomes increasingly critical in the harsher environments of Zone 2 and beyond.
Cooked food provides substantially better hunger satisfaction and health regeneration rates than raw ingredients, a difference that matters enormously during extended dungeon runs in the Forest Dungeon or Swamp Cemetery Dungeon where players may be far from resupply points. The quest introduces the cooking station interface, shows players which ingredient categories can be combined, and rewards completion with a starter set of provisions and a small experience boost. This experience reward contributes to early Warrior or Arcanist skill tree progression, giving an additional incentive to complete the tutorial series in full.
This quest is one of four tutorial quests that collectively form Everwind's onboarding experience, alongside Learn Basics - Flying Ship, Learn Basics - Smelting, and Learn Basics - Repairing. Players who skip cooking in favor of raw-food consumption will find their survivability drops sharply when entering Zone 2 biomes, where combat encounters are more prolonged and health regeneration between fights becomes essential. Settlers in Starting Meadows settlements sometimes provide cooking tips through ambient dialogue, reinforcing the systems taught in this quest.
