Wooden Hatchet
Hatchet
Wooden Hatchet is the Wood-tier hatchet in Everwind, a rudimentary chopping tool converted into a combat weapon using basic wooden components. Available from the earliest crafting options, it can be made at the Crafting Station or via Pocket Crafting, placing it among the first weapons any survivor can access. Endurance is limited by its wooden construction, but it serves its purpose as a versatile starting option for players who want a balance between cutting damage and usability.
Hatchets as a category combine moderate damage with one-handed versatility, making them adaptable across a range of combat situations compared to the more specialized daggers and bludgeons. The Wooden Hatchet requires no skill unlock and occupies one rune slot, allowing early investment in a permanent enhancement such as Life Steal to improve survivability. Upgrading at the Upgrade Station to +10 is possible but the Wood tier's ceiling is naturally low.
Wooden Hatchet is suitable for early wildlife encounters and resource gathering skirmishes where its chopping motion provides a different damage feel compared to stabbing daggers or bludgeoning batons. It introduces players to the hatchet playstyle that scales through Rock Splitter, Copper Hatchet, Pyrite Chopper, and beyond. Players who enjoy the versatility of the hatchet category will want to transition to Rock Splitter as soon as Stone-tier crafting is unlocked.
