Pyrite
Ore
Pyrite Ore, often called Fool's Gold for its misleading golden luster, is a Zone 2 ore found in the mid-altitude regions between 400 and 900 meters. It appears as glittering golden-yellow mineral deposits embedded in rocky terrain, and while it lacks the value of true Gold Ore, it is a substantial mid-tier crafting material in its own right. Pyrite deposits are most commonly encountered in the Russet Forest biome.
Pyrite Ore is smelted into Pyrite Ingot at the Furnace, which serves as a mid-tier weapon crafting material. Players who have progressed past early copper tools but have not yet reached the iron-working tiers will find Pyrite Ingot to be an important intermediate material for weapon crafting. It fills the gap between copper-level and iron-level gear, providing meaningful combat upgrades during the Zone 2 phase of progression.
Mining Pyrite efficiently requires a solid pickaxe, ideally at least a copper-tier tool, to extract ore from the harder rock formations where it appears. Because Pyrite is exclusive to Zone 2, players should gather it in quantity during their time in that altitude range before pushing into Zone 3. Do not confuse it with Gold Ore, which only appears in Zone 3 and has a brighter, richer appearance. Pyrite is an excellent material to stockpile for weapon upgrades in the mid-game.
